Yesterday Bob coded in recast times for spells, and abilities.
Also the higher level dragons have elemental weaknesses now.
The spells hitting formula was updated to allow spells to hit more reliably, when your level is the same as the monsters.
The 250 level treasure table has been fixed to allow better drops.
The higher level monsters now drop treasure.
The classifications of weapons, and armor are:
1) "of Mighty Power": If a weapon, or armor has a total magical bonus of over 50, or it has 4 magical properties, it gets this stuck onto the end of its name. Players must be at least level 100 before they can use this item.
2) "of Epic Power": if a weapon has a total magical bonus of over 200, or an armor a total bonus of over 150, or the item has 5 magical properties, it gets this stuck onto the end of its name. Players must be at least level 150 before they can use this.
3) "of Legend": if a weapon has a total bonus of over 500, or an armor a total bonus over 300, or if it has 6 magical properties then it gets this stuck onto the end of its name. Players must be at least level 265 before they can use this.
4) "of Doom": if a weapon has a total bonus of over 700, or an armor has a total bonus of over 500, or an item has 7 magical properties, it gets this stuck onto the end of its name). Players must be at least 500 before they can use this.

Ok. So, it turned out, that someone, somewhere along the way, thought it might be a good idea to, instead of adding your mentality modifier directly to the result of a spell, adding it to the *size* of the *die* used to roll the result. It may have been me, it may have been Matt, it may have been James. Either way, it resulted in the ridiculously high damage that has been seen recently. So, I moved the mentality add back to where it goes, at the end of the formula. This resulted in a drastic drop in damage, to the point where people were unable to fight monsters 800 levels below them. So, I then adjusted the formula to where your entire seed level is used in calculation, rather than a modified version. This should increase the damage, but not to the ridiculous levels it was before. It's going to be harder, but not impossible, to kill things.

The strange error people were getting in battle was fixed. Sorry about the delay.

I am proud to announce the launch of Scarlet Dragon Publishing, dba Scarlet Dragon Entertainment, LLC! SDP will be focused on running an online, once monthly roleplaying and fiction journal. This new magazine is innovative because it allows people to post their work and get real feedback from other users and then improve their work. Users vote on each piece (there is no competition) and when it has a high enough ranking, it gets put into a pool of qualified submissions which the editors then review. Most qualified submissions will make it into the actual publication. This peer review process makes this publication unique.
The name of the magazine is ATRYEN: All The Roleplaying You'll Ever Need. Click on the link to go there and read the first issue, written by the staff! I want to personally invite all of our players of The Realms of Loria to head on over to this new site and join the community that we're starting TODAY!

This is good to know: all spells that give miss chances should be directed at the monster. This includes the following lines of spells: Aura of Awesomeness, Blur, Chaotic Shield, Blindness, and Protect. In the case of protect, it will make the enemy miss you and also buff up your defense, but you still have to cast it on the enemy.
Anyway, just thought I'd share that helpful bit of information, since some spells (like "Chaotic Shield" or "Blur") might be misleading and make a player think they should cast it on themselves.

Okay, we're not dead. It's the end of the semester and we're swamped. We've been trying to get a development meeting going because we have some actual business to take care of as well as get back to work on the game, but each time something comes up. For instance, we planned to have one today in the morning (the only time I could do it today) but then Bob found out he had to do a make-up class at the same time. We've let development slide this semester (apart from a few major "patch" releases to fix bugs), and I do intend to jump back on it once summer hits and we're free again.
I honestly think now that we're going to get the new items system ready for release and then do the wipe (that's the entire reason we have to do the wipe anyway) and then release the advanced classes one at a time (maybe on a monthly basis). I don't think it's possible to get them all done and then release it all. Too much to swallow at the same time. More on this later.

Monday we spent all of our time planning out what we were going to do in June: the battle revamp. We discussed how we want battle to work and then divided it up into smaller chunks so we could work on it simultaneously. We laid out all of our plans on Monday because this weekend is the "Weekend of Code" where we will try to get through as much of the battle revamp as possible using every waking hour this weekend to code. I have seriously never been more excited about the game than Monday night. It's going to be so incredibly awesome. For now, my lips are sealed. Okay...I'll tell you one thing: multi-player and multi-monster battles will finally be a reality! Players will be able to band together in what we're calling Fellowships (because I love Tolkien). But not only is this cool, we're streamlining battle like never before. I also have some other surprises in store for the players, but again, they will stay surprises for now. In the 5 years this game has been running, I've never had so many things that I wanted to tell the players. When all of this comes together, it will be the best browser-based game on the internet, hands down!
